Crescent Hill Graphics opened in 1990. Originally on 23rd Street in Manhattan, we ran a busy ship with a changing focus as industries, and the economy, rose and fell and rose and fell. Through it all, we provided what we proudly still call "Commercial Art." Below is a Crescent Hill Graphics time line. In the late 90s, CHG moved to Brooklyn. The company consists of owner, Julie Schwartzman, freelance artists Steve, Bookkeeper Libby, and a selection of other freelancers and services. Keeping up with the times, we've just added a web hosting service to our business. And now...

A Visual History of Crescent Hill Graphics

1989–1992

We start off life with some high profile New York clients like NYNEX, Manhattan Cable Television and BAM. It's a great mix of corporate and non-for-profits. We also do a lot of nuts 'n' bolts production of computer books and newsletters — the bread and butter work.

1992–1995

Time to specialize. With all the mergers and corporate restructuring of the early 90s, we begin to work with smaller, privately-owned businesses in entertainment, public relations, television, and travel. Morocco and Africa, videos and CDs.... It's a colorful few years!

1995–1999

Technology starts to kick in, and we are on board! We're holding steady with our basic clients, and adding companies who want to participate in on the high-tech boom (or were hi-tech before anyone knew what that meant). CourtTV, E-prints, Telekurs Data, i-universe, and QTV.

Crash! The technology boom begins to slow down and not all our clients survive. With free time, we freelance for the design firm, Parham Santana on some cool projects, writing and producing "Style Guides" for Mattel's Barbie packaging, Discovery Channel packaging, and writing lots of toy packaging copy.

2000-2004

Things pick up, and some of our old favorites like QTV and Park Avenue get busy again! Our business remains a diverse mixture of steady clients who rely on us more and more to handle all their communication and marketing needs. Publishing, technology, building trades, luxury travel — the variety is terrific. We're also doing web sites and lots of writing and editing. Hey, this is actually fun.
