Mario Muchnik,
born in Buenos Aires in 1937, has been a physicist in Italy, a photographer and editor of audio-visuals in L ondon, the director of collections in Robert Laffort in Paris, the founder of Muchnik Editors in 1973, and the general director of the publishing house Seix Barral in Barcelona. He is the author of Un bábaro en París (A Barbarian in Paris, Mundio judío (Jewish World) and Einstein, and is now writing his memoirs.
Larry Rivers’ work is in the permanent collections of The Metropolitan Museum of Art, MOMA, The Corcoran Gallery in Washington, DC, and in major museums and private collections throughout the world. He wrote poetry, was a jazz saxophonist, a composer, and had his own group The Climax Band. He is the author of What Did I Do? The Unauthorized Biography of Larry Rivers with Arnold Weinstein. He died in 2002 and is currently exhibited at the Tibor de Nagy Gallery.
Gonzalo Torné was born in Jerez, Spain. He has received two grants from the Pollock-Krasner Foundation and numerous grants and awards in Europe. His work is in the permanent museum collections of Museo Real Academia de Bellas Artes de San Fernando, Madrid, Museo Nacional Centro de Arte Reina Sofia, Madrid, Museo de Arte Contemporaneo, Cuenca, Musee de La Publicite, Palais du Louvre, The Henry Moore Centre for Study of Sculpture, Leeds, Carnegie Library, Houston and the Arendi Collection Oslo.
Adolfo Barnatán was born in Paris in 1951. He studied in Buenos Aires and moved to Madrid in 1956, where he studied art and architecture. The roots of his work go back to Bracusi, Jean Arp and Henry Moore, but are also influenced by Surrealism. He has had several one-artist shows: In 1991 at Galería Aele, in Madrid; in 1993, at Galería Artespacio, in Madrid; and in 1995, at Galería Barcena & Cia, in Madrid.
Martín Chirino is a Spanish sculptor born in 1925. In 1957, he co-founded the association El Paso, which played a crucial role in the establishment of Art Informel, as a central part of continental art. His sculptures, mainly made with iron, stand out because of their formal and symbolic richness. In 1980 he was awarded the Spanish National Prize of Fine Arts.
Frederic Amat was born in Barcelona in 1953. His acclaimed works, which include collage, paintings, objects, costumes and scenery, reflect stunning visual intensity in all mediums.
